Elwood B. Miller, 92, of White Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2010 at the Care Center of Lopatcong, Lopatcong Township, NJ.

Born in White Township, NJ of July 18, 1917, he was the son of the late Roy Hess Miller and Nellie M. Beers Miller.

Mr. Miller was a finisher for Keystone Fabrication, Long Valley, NJ. Previously, he had worked at Castle Creek Prints, Washington, NJ, was the manager of Huston Hardware Store, Easton, PA and in the early 1950's he was a self employed contractor.

Mr. Miller was an active and one of the oldest members of the Alpha Mennonite Church. He had organized many of the churches functions and fund raising.

Until recently, he had enjoyed bowling at Warren Lanes. During WWII he served in the Civilian Conservation Camps. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Doris Dalrymple Miller; a son, Barry Miller and his wife Marianne of Palmer Twp., PA; three daughters, Nancy Schoonover and her husband Bill of Blairstown, NJ, Vivian Stecker and her husband Russ of Harmony Twp., NJ , and Diane Wolfram of Phillipsburg, NJ; five grandchildren, Shavonne and Katelyn Miller, Jennifer Markle, Scott Hengst, and Michele Lambert; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Miller of Westfield, PA; two sisters, Ruth Richardson of FL, and Lois Pfeffer of Phillipsburg, NJ.

A brother, Walter Miller and a sister, Bertha Saszi had died earlier.


In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in his memory to the Alpha Mennonite Church, 901 East Blvd., Alpha, NJ 08865.
