Joseph Barbera, 78, of the Brookfield section of White Township, Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 03, 2009 at the Care Center of Lopatcong, Lopatcong Township, NJ.

Born on September 21, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Philip and Philomena DiPrimo Barbera. Mr. Barbera had lived in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ for many years before moving to Brookfield 10 years ago.

Mr. Barbera had been the Northeast Regional Projects Manager for AT&T before retiring. After his retirement, Mr. Barbera became a real estate agent, lastly for Coldwell-Banker in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ.

Mr. Barbera had been a graduate of Seton Hall University and had served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Barbera was a parishioner of St. Patrick R.C. Church, Belvidere, NJ. A member of the Elks B.P.O.E., Hasbrouck Heights, NJ and American Legion, Carl D. Archer Post 528, White Township, NJ.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years the former Ann Verni; three children, Maryann Platania and her husband Frank of Hasbrouck Heights, Philip Joseph Barbera and his wife Mary of Little Ferry and Judeanne McGilloway and her husband Timothy of Belvidere; five grandchildren, Victoria and her fiancé Jeffrey, Matthew, Connor, Anna, and Andrew; a brother, Pietro Barbera of Toms River, NJ.


In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in his memory to St. Patrick R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ 07823.
