Barbara Wilson Cook, 82, of Naples, FL, formerly of Belvidere, NJ, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Naples Community Hospital, Naples, FL.
Mrs. Cook, who received her nursing degree chose instead to assist her late husband George L. Cook, who died on March 27, 2001, with their home improvement business in Belvidere, Cook's Floor & Wall Covering for over 36 years.
Born on November 29, 1927 in Belvidere, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Pete and Della Bush Wilson who operated Faust Bros Pharmacy in Belvidere. Mrs. Cook had moved to The Glades, Naples, FL in 1988.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Belvidere, where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of numerous organizations including the Women's Club, and was an original member and trustee of the Pool Corporation that built the Belvidere Community Pool. She played an ever supporting role during husband George's time on the Belvidere School Board and Town Council.
Mrs. Cook was a member of the Glades Country Club in Naples, where despite taking up golf at age 60 she recorded two holes-in-one. She was active with a number of bridge groups and the woman's golf association. She forever had a smile as she played past "Cook's Creek" on the Glades course, named for her husband who was active in many facets of the Glades community.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Michael Cook, wife Patricia of Fremont, CA and Peter Cook, wife Monica of Cary, NC; four granddaughters, Beth Cook O'Neill and Amy Cook of Fremont and Jane and Lisa Cook of Cary.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in her memory to the United Presbyterian Church of Belvidere, 224 Mansfield Street, Belvidere, NJ 07823.
