Erma M. Smith, 84, of White Township, NJ, and a recent resident of the Chelsea at Brookfield Assisted Living, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ.
Born on August 14, 1924 in Harmony Township, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Ada L. Smith Beers.
Erma was a homemaker and farmers wife, secretary for Van Horn Farm Equipment and in her younger years she was a secretary at the Belvidere Court House.
She was a 1943 graduate of Belvidere High School.
Erma was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Smith who died in 2004; sisters, Mildred, Bertha and Lois; brothers, Herman, Floyd and Walter.
Surviving are her sons, James and his wife Karen of White Twp., NJ, Robert and his wife Gladys; a daughter, Jean Strauss and her husband James all of Bangor, PA; eight proud grandchildren, James Smith, Jr. and his wife Kim, Glenn Smith and his wife Heather, Donald Smith and his wife Tonja, Michael Smith and his partner Gary Fortin, Douglas Strauss and his wife Heather, David Strauss, Daryl Smith and his wife April, Nicole Setsodi and her husband Arthur Jr.; nine great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters.
